How We Work
At Schemeworks, we believe our strength lies in being a diverse team of creators with expertise across various disciplines, including graphic, interior and industrial design, sculpting, fine arts and even music.
This multidisciplinary foundation allows our work to go beyond fabrication and it makes us particularly well-suited for collaboration with a diverse client base, including developers, interior designers, graphic designers, and marketing firms.
We understand your process and can either execute your designs directly or collaborate with you to create memorable displays that showcase your project’s interior finishes. From cabinetry and countertops to tiles and flooring, Schemeworks has developed a signature way of bringing materials to life on our scheme boards, providing design options that help buyers easily envision their future spaces.

The Team
Doug Fleming
Before there was Schemeworks, there was a 26 year history of founder Doug Fleming in his award-winning graphic design studio, Fleming Creative Group. A full service shop of over 30 employees, Fleming’s busiest division was the real estate group, focused solely on the marketing design for multi-family homes. Doug’s favourite activity? Bringing the projects to life through ‘scheme boards that highlighted the features and finishes that would be part of each new home.
It was no surprise that in 2010, after a six month hiatus following the sale of his company, Doug pivoted to Schemeworks, focused exclusively on creating a new standard in interior presentation boards for real estate sales. Hundreds of projects and many years later, Doug and the team are still asked, ‘Do you think this is possible?’ and the response is still a resounding YES!
Pablo Mariano
With a Masters from Emily Carr University’s Interdisciplinary Design program, Pablo combines his creativity, methodology, and past experience in custom millwork design and fabrication (via his own company in his native Buenos Aires, Argentina), custom guitar making, degree in Music Composition, award-winning furniture design, and current teaching as a sessional instructor at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, towards a multidisciplinary outlook to all Schemeworks projects.
Pablo is also extremely adept with the changing tools and technology, applying his computer skills to the mix to expand our capabilities to develop shop drawings for the more complex projects Schemeworks has been taking on.
Abhinav Paul
A Masters graduate of Emily Carr University’s Interdisciplinary Design program, prior to joining Schemeworks Abhinav studied Engineering in India, and later transitioned into Industrial Design as this was most compatible with his interests. A fast study, Abhinav has developed serious ‘shop chops’ under the tutelage of Pablo and Doug, and brings an analytical approach to projects with a keen eye for details that makes him one of Schemeworks’ best quality control watchdogs.
Nicolás Pontón
The multi-disciplinary spirit is very much alive in Nicolás. With two fine arts degrees from universities in Buenos Aires, Nico also brings experience as a maker/fabricator from his own studio in Argentina where he focused on wood and metalworking, creating a diverse range of commissioned pieces and exhibition-related display structures and furniture. Nicolás can manage all aspects of production from concept development through to final fabrication.

Our scheme boards are often seen as much works of art as functional pieces.
